Learning Standard: 6-8.PS1.A.1 Develop models to describe the atomic composition of simple molecules and extended structures.
I Can: Create a ONE PAGER that demonstrates my knowledge of simple molecules and extended structures.
ASSIGNMENT DIRECTIONS:
Using a plain sheet of paper provided by Ms. Edens, you will create a ONE PAGER as a final project to demonstrate that you have mastered the standard above.
Below is a list of all the Required Content that must be included in your One Pager:
(1 pts) TITLE: Simple Molecules and Extended Structures (Be creative with your title – use a font that represents the topic.)
(1 pts) BORDER: This should represent the theme of what you are learning. For example if the theme was libraries, you might draw little books around the edges.
(20 pts) FOUR PICTURES: These are pictures that help explain the difference between a simple molecule and an extended structure.
- At least one drawing needs to be a ball and stick model of a simple molecule, and one needs to be a ball and stick drawing of an extended structure. These must be labeled with Simple Molecule or Extended Structure! If you want to include the name of the molecule that is ok, but make sure you have identified if it is a simple molecule or extended structure
(4 pts) FOUR VOCAB WORDS: The words should be key words that help explain simple and extended structures. Some example vocab words we have learned would be atom, element, molecule, and compound. You
(2 pts) 2 QUOTES FROM READING: This needs to be a quote from the PowerPoint in Simple vs. Extended Structures PowerPoint. You need to use “Quotation Marks”
(20 pts) SUMMARY: This needs to be a paragraph (at least 5 sentences or longer) that explains the difference between a simple molecule and an extended structure in our own words.
(2 pts) COLOR: Your entire page needs to be filled with color. Use colored pencils, but not markers. Markers make it too hard to read.
TOTAL ASSIGNMENT POINTS: 50 pts
TURN IN INSTRUCTIONS: Take a VERY clear picture of your One Pager and submit to this assignment. Turn in the paper copy to Ms. Edens in class.
