Pure Substances vs. Mixtures (Section 4)

In this mini lesson you will re-learn how to identify the difference between models of a pure substance and a mixture. 


First we need to review the terms below. 

Atom – the smallest amount of matter you can have.

Element – The type of element you have. See the periodic table for all the different types. 

Compound – two or more atoms that are different types, chemically combined with each other. 


Next watch the video to review the difference between a pure substance and mixture. 


INSTRUCTIONS: 

Draw models (using circles to represent atoms) of the following: 

1) Atoms of a Pure Substance

2) Compounds of a Pure Substance

3) Mixture
